RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS
are good for us.
Scientific research shows that when we do something nice for someone our brain produces dopamine, which makes us feel happy.
This is your opportunity!
What is “Giving Back”?
It is an initiative working with selected coffee shops and restaurants in Totnes, enabling patrons, whilst enjoying their own coffee or meal, to make a gift to benefit either the homeless or local people in need.
"Giving Back” promotes giving to others from a place of gratitude for what we have, for no other reason other than because we can.
Why Use “Giving Back”?
Many of us want to help the homeless, and those in need, but are not sure of the best way to do so and there can be a dilemma in giving cash.
Giving food is not always welcomed by the homeless. We have heard of instances where poison or even glass has been placed in the food given to homeless people. So understandably they can be reticent about receiving food from the public.
What will your money buy?
As a rough idea of what your gift will do for this community.....
1. Help fund our Food Bank
2. Help fund a homeless project in the town that feeds the homeless a cooked meal at lunch time 5 days a week.
3. Help fund a night shelter when the temperature drops below zero.
4. Fund training projects for the homeless and those in need.
How can I give?
Please use the envelope provided. Place you gift in the envelope, seal the envelope and place the envelope in the collection box. Ask your waitress where this box is located. Please do not give cash gifts to the waitress.
